Bon Voyage Dai

After the Gowerton game a presentation was made to forwards coach Dai as he is relocating to Coventry. The boys presented him with a Welsh dragon and also a Mumbles jersey which they all had signed. The boys made the presentation themselves thanking Dai for coaching them and making the sessions fun !

A long and good afternoon was had by all in a fitting send off.

Dai will be missed by both the boys and his fellow coaches and we all wish him well for the future. Obviously he is welcome back at any time and results will be texted to him every Sunday.

Goweron 24th February

Mumbles ran out comfortable winners 57:21 but not before Gowerton made them dig deep and pull their game together. Despite trying to play an expansive game Mumbles found it hard going in the first half. The Gowerton forwards were aggressive at the ruck and spoilt and turned over good Mumbles ball. However in the second half Mumbles found their rhythm and by the end of the game they had run in nine tries.

Farwell Dai !

As we have already informed you, Dai our forwards coach has to say goodbye as he is moving to the strange Kingdom of Middle England.

Due to pesonal reasons he is moving to Coventry, he has informed us that he has had all necessary vacinations and that there is no fear because he is convinced that six pints of taffy apples daily makes him immune !

We want to send Dai off in style and hope that everyone joins us in the Rugby Club after next sundays game to say bon voyage.

Dai is a fantastic person and will be mised by the coaching team and especilly the boys !

Bonymaen 17th February

In glorious sunshine both sets of supporters saw an old fashioned dog fight of a match. Congratulations must be given to both teams for providing tremendous entertainment to all parents watching.

For Mumbles this was a must win game not only for the fact that we lost away early in the season but it was one of the last games for Dai our forwards coach before he crosses the border to live in England.

The game was played at a tremendous pace, a tale of two halves. Initially Mumbles dominated playing a fast and ferocious game, Bonymaen could not cope with the magnificent rucking and continuity of their play. By half time Mumbles were two tries in front but Bonymaen were far from out of the game.

The second half saw a major change, playing downhill the Bonymaen forwards started to show their strengths. Mumbles were continuosly under pressure and eventually Bonymaen pulled one try back. Stern defence and playing as a team saw Mumbles through, however full credit to both teams for entertaining the crowd.

Final score Mumbles 14 Bonymaen 5

Match against Skewen

Todays match was a hard fought affair, altough we ran out 35 to nil winners, Skewen made us work very hard. Skewen had a big pack and our forwards had to up their game and work hard to secure the ball. Mumbles handling was very slick and many opportunities were created to score but unfortunately things broke down at the last moment.

Scorers were: Cian(2), Josh(2), Ben , Jack B 4 cons and Lewis 1 Con
